Frequently Asked Questions
MEMBERSHIP:
Q. Why do I have to create a login for the website AND purchase a membership plan? Why can’t I just purchase JUST a membership plan?
A. Our website host (“Wix”) does not allow access to Members Area pages using only membership plans. As you may have experienced, other organizations do this, as well.
Q. I purchased a membership using your PayPal Subscription option. How do I transfer my membership so I don’t pay twice for the current year?
A. On Thursday, January 12, 2023 we sent an email to all members registered under our PayPal Subscriptions with a one-time use 100% discount coupon to apply to their “new” membership account on our website. This email was sent using Constant Contact, so if you feel you did not receive this, please check your spam or trash before emailing us here.
WEBSITE:
Q. Why do some website links or pages appear broken or incorrect?
A. With the extreme overhaul, we may have missed something! If, after troubleshooting on your own and reviewing more specific FAQs and their answers, you still see issues please help us improve the site experience by completing this form! Thank you in advance for making this upgrade as smooth as possible for everyone!
Q. I can’t sign up or log in and other pages aren’t working. Why?
A. It is likely because your internet server blocks cookies. Our website collects the minimum cookies required to function properly (such as our website “remembering” that you are logged into your account as you navigate between public pages and members-only pages). In this instance, we recommend you disable cookie blockers. Please review our privacy policy (below) to learn more about cookies. If you are still having issues, please email us.
BROWN BAGS:
Q. Why are Brown Bags recorded?
We record sessions at the permission of each presenter to allow NASIH members unable to attend to view the sessions at a time convenient to them.
Q. How are Brown Bags recorded?
A. We utilize Zoom's "Active Speaker" format which records the video of any active speaker. Because we mute all participants, attendee video feeds are not recorded, nor is the participant list and comments in the chat box. The NASIH representative or presentation chair reads aloud any questions presented in the chat box, and allows the questioner to "unmute" and thus ask any follow up questions. In that instance, the video feed of the questioner (now an "active speaker") will be visible. If the questioner has their video off, their name is displayed. Once we open the floor for questions and comments, we will allow questioners to modify their names so it is not displayed in the recording while they are an “active speaker”. Learn more about Zoom’s “active speaker” recordings here.
Q. How will I know if a session is recorded?
A. We do our best to notify future and current registrants as early as possible as to whether a session will, or will not, be recorded. At the latest, you will be notified whether the session is recorded in the day-of email that includes the Zoom link. In the event of human or technical error, notice will also be given at the start of the session. We thank you in advance for understanding our limitations in relaying such notices.
In addition to agreeing to the various notices provided on the event page, ticket purchase, and confirmation emails, by attending these sessions you grant permission for your voice and video feed to be recorded (in the event you have questions you’d like to verbalize/ask out loud).
